Kyo Kouyoku

Born in Tokyo. After graduating from university, he pursued his creative expression across the realms of photography and design. He is currently based at the creative production company APPROSQUARE.
Centering his life’s work on photography that casts “time” as the protagonist, he documents not merely landscapes or figures, but the subtle presence and fragments of human life flowing beneath them. He seeks to create expressions rich with yohaku—a sense of quiet space—that allow unique stories to unfold within each viewer from a single image.
Deeply influenced by Japanese tradition, universal aesthetics, Zen philosophy, and In Praise of Shadows (In’ei Raisan), he delicately captures the presence dwelling within shadows as much as light, bringing a consistent temperature and quietude to his work.
